Basketball Game Preview: Ilwaco Fishermen vs. Chief Leschi Warriors

Ilwaco and Chief Leschi are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Ilwaco Fishermen will venture away from home to face off against the Chief Leschi Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chief Leschi took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ilwaco, who comes in off a win.

Ilwaco is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat North Beach 70-36. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Fishermen with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Chief Leschi was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 60-39 to Tyee.

Chief Leschi's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Ilwaco, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-6.

Things could have been worse for Ilwaco, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-54 loss to Chief Leschi in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Ilwaco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
