Basketball Game Preview: Nokomis Redskins vs. Lincolnwood Lancers

Nokomis is a perfect 8-0 against Lincolnwood since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nokomis is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Greenfield/Northwestern: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Redskins blew the Tigers out of the water with a 45-18 final score. The Redskins pushed the score to 38-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had little chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nokomis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hannah Tarter, who posted 11 points and three steals. That's the most steals Tarter has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalasandra Cook, who had six points.

Meanwhile, Lincolnwood was able to grind out a solid win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City on Thursday, taking the game 42-29. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Lincolnwood has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Nokomis, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 2-0.

Nokomis strolled past Lincolnwood in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 64-46. Do the Redskins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
