Baseball Game Preview: East Rockingham Eagles vs. Broadway Gobblers

The East Rockingham Eagles will face off against the Broadway Gobblers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Rockingham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

East Rockingham had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Spotswood put an end to it on Friday. The Eagles fell 5-2 to the Trailblazers. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

East Rockingham saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Eppard, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Broadway hadn't beaten Spotswood on the road since April 28, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Gobblers had just enough and edged out the Trailblazers 3-2. That's two games straight that the Gobblers have won by just one run.

Broadway is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Rockingham, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Everything went East Rockingham's way against Broadway in their previous meeting back in April, as East Rockingham made off with a 12-1 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Gobblers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
