Baseball Recap: Culver Academies Drops Season-High Score on La Lumiere

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Culver Academies). They put the hurt on the La Lumiere Lakers with a sharp 23-1 win on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Foster Stockton and Preston Jessen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Stockton tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jessen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Stockton posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Stockton got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while Jessen got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Tommy Kelley was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Cole Meiser also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Culver Academies kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Culver Academies' record now sits at 7-1. As for La Lumiere, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Culver Academies will venture away from home to face off against North Miami at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for La Lumiere, they will host South Bend Career Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
