Softball Recap: Chilton County Finds Home Field Redemption Against Stanhope Elmore

There's no place like home for Chilton County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-1 back in February.

Mallie Harrison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lily Benson was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Macey Pierce, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Chilton County pushed their record up to 29-7-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Stanhope Elmore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Chilton County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-3 defeat against Marbury on the 22nd. As for Stanhope Elmore, they have also already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Brewbaker Tech on the 22nd.
