Recap: Salida Spartans vs. Colorado Springs Christian Lions

If the Salida Spartans were riding high off their 55-29 takedown of the Manitou Springs Mustangs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Salida was dealt a 71-17 loss at the hands of Colorado Springs Christian on Wednesday. It was the first time this season that Salida let down their fans at home.

Despite the defeat, Salida saw an underclassman step up: Graysa Kindle scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Wooddell, who scored four points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Salida struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Colorado Springs Christian racked up 16 assists.

Salida's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-6. As for Colorado Springs Christian, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Salida will head out on the road to face off against Del Norte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Norte's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Salida's offense will have their work cut out for them.
