Recap: Tombstone Yellow Jackets vs. Douglas Bulldogs
After a string of four wins, the Tombstone Yellow Jackets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Douglas an easy 46-25 victory. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tombstone in their matchups with Douglas: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklynn Penrose, who scored 11 points. Rachel Thursby was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Scarlette Ruiz was her usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with five steals for Douglas. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ruiz has scored at least 25% of Douglas' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyra Espinosa, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Tombstone's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Douglas, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
