Softball Game Preview: Liberty Hurricanes vs. North Pocono Trojans

The Liberty Hurricanes will square off against the North Pocono Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Liberty barely beat Pleasant Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Liberty was the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Pleasant Valley on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, North Pocono won against East Stroudsburg South on Saturday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. North Pocono put the hurt on Dallas with a sharp 8-2 victory. The Trojans' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Amelia Bell made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Adysen Iyoob was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Alyssa Lynch was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

North Pocono kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

North Pocono pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
