Football Game Preview: Widefield Gladiators vs. Montrose Red Hawks + Official Tickets

The Widefield Gladiators will head out to face off against the Montrose Red Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Widefield has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Montrose will come in with eight straight victories.

Widefield's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Pueblo West on Friday. They had to suffer through a 51-0 loss at the hands of the Cyclones. While losing is never fun, the Gladiators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Cyclones are ranked 30th).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Montrose against Mesa Ridge on Friday as the squad secured a 54-22 win. Considering the Red Hawks have won seven contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Montrose's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Widefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Widefield took a serious blow against Montrose in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 63-7. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Red Hawks' Elijah Womack, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Now that the Gladiators know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
