Football Recap: Shannon Piles Up the Points Against Amory

Shannon won the last time they faced Amory and things went their way on Friday too. The Red Raiders blew past the Panthers 44-7. With the Red Raiders ahead 36-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Braylen Deans had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 164 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Those 164 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Brayden Collins was another key player, rushing for 43 yards and two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Shannon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 267 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Shannon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points over those games. As for Amory, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shannon will square off against Itawamba Agricultural at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. As for Amory, they will challenge Corinth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
