Basketball Game Preview: Winnfield Tigers vs. Lakeside Warriors

The Winnfield Tigers will square off against the Lakeside Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

It was a proper cat-fight when Winnfield took on Ruston on Tuesday. Winnfield took a 66-48 bruising from Ruston. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Bearcats are ranked 22nd).

Meanwhile, Lakeside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against Mansfield, falling 63-39.

Winnfield's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Lakeside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Everything went Winnfield's way against Lakeside when the teams last played back in January, as Winnfield made off with a 62-41 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Winnfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
