Softball Recap: Richwoods' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Richwoods, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Urbana Tigers on Monday. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 15-10 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cici Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, Richwoods let Paige Sarraf and Leah Shaffer run wild. Sarraf earned two runs and three stolen bases, while Shaffer went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Sarraf a new career-high. Lydia Day was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

With the win, Richwoods broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-13. As for Urbana, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-14.

Coming up, Richwoods will host Delavan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Urbana, they will welcome Peoria Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
