Basketball Game Preview: Columbia Heights Hylanders vs. DeLaSalle Islanders

Columbia Heights is 2-8 against DeLaSalle since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Columbia Heights Hylanders will square off against the DeLaSalle Islanders at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Columbia Heights is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Saturday. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 72-68 heartbreaker at the hands of Park. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (67), the Hylanders still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, DeLaSalle had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They strolled past the Polars with points to spare, taking the game 87-73. Given the Islanders' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Polars are ranked 145th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

DeLaSalle pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.0 points per game. As for Columbia Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Columbia Heights suffered a grim 81-56 defeat to DeLaSalle when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Columbia Heights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
