MENIFEE, Calif. - After swapping the lead five times,
Heritage (Romoland, Calif.) took the lead for the win when
Sione Takitaki ran for a touchdown in the second quarter, paving the way for victory over
Paloma Valley (Menifee, Calif.) 48-25.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Takitaki in the second quarter, the Patriots led 27-18 at the half.
Heritage expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Brett Virgil touchdown pass to
Chris Nile.
A 8-point fourth quarter solidified the win for the Romoland school, as it pushed the final margin of victory to 23.
When the two teams played each other last season, the Patriots came away with a 24-13 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Paloma Valley, who notched a 35-6 victory over Perris in its previous outing. With the win Heritage extended its winning streak to four games.
In a Sunbelt game next week Paloma Valley (7-1) takes on Temescal Canyon, and Heritage (7-1) will go up against Lakeside also in a Sunbelt game.
