Basketball Recap: Adelyn Gough's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lanier Christian Academy over Horizon Christian Academy

If Lanier Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 47-26 takedown of Fideles Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lanier Christian Academy Lightning came up short against the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors on Friday, falling 58-38. The Lightning haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Lanier Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Adelyn Gough, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Roberts, who had 14 points.

Horizon Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Nyla Black, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Black has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Darby Graham, who earned 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Lanier Christian Academy now has a losing record at 13-14. As for Horizon Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lanier Christian Academy will challenge Creekside Christian Academy on Friday. Creekside Christian Academy will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Lanier Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Horizon Christian Academy, they will square off against Harvester Christian Academy on Friday. One thing working in Horizon Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
