Basketball Recap: Hauser Comes Up Short

Hauser lost against North Decatur back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Hauser Jets lost 45-23 to the North Decatur Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Chargers are ranked 114th).

When it comes to explaining why Hauser lost, don't look at Braelyn Williams. Despite the final result, she posted seven points. Norah Berkenstock was another key player, putting up eight points.

Madi Allen was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 17 on her way to 25 points along with seven boards and six steals for North Decatur. The team also got some help courtesy of Clare Kinker, who had three points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Hauser and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for North Decatur, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Hauser will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Trinity Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. North Decatur will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Edinburgh at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th.
