Recap: East Juniata Tigers vs. Greenwood Wildcats

Even though the East Juniata Tigers have not done well against the Greenwood Wildcats recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, East Juniata made off with a 38-37 victory over the Wildcats. For East Juniata, this counts as revenge for the 58-38 loss the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another on January 2nd.

East Juniata's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wrett Smith, who scored eight points along with five assists and two steals. Clark Ritzman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.

East Juniata's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Greenwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Juniata will face off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greenwood, they will head out on the road to face off against the Buffaloes at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newport has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 4.
