Soccer Game Preview: Western Guilford vs. Northern Guilford

Western Guilford hasn't had much luck against Northern Guilford recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 11 defeats in a row, Western Guilford turned things around against Southeast Guilford on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 3-1.

Western Guilford hit Southeast Guilford with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sarah Alimi, Skylar Brewer, and Synai Vaye.

Meanwhile, Northern Guilford came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pirates a 2-0 shutout. Northern Guilford's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Northern Guilford pushed their record up to 12-6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Western Guilford, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 5-13-1.
