Softball Recap: Hendrickson Takes a Loss

If Hendrickson was riding high fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Elgin last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell just short of the Weiss - by a score of 3-2 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the - this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in March.

Kara Luongo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hendrickson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Payne, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Hendrickson's loss dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Weiss, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-3-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Hendrickson and Weiss will both be playing Georgetown the next time they take the field. The Hawks will head out to face the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the - will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
