Baseball Recap: Sand Creek Has No Trouble Against Pittsford

Sand Creek barely beat Pittsford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Aggies put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 12-1 victory on Monday. The Aggies not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 18-3).

Jackson Sutherland was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Sutherland was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ivan Wilkinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten games. Dane Morrin was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Sand Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

The win got Sand Creek back to even at 10-10. As for Pittsford, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Coming up, Sand Creek will head out to challenge Lenawee Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Aggies are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pittsford, they will square off against Litchfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
