Basketball Recap: Pine Forge Academy Comes Up Short

Pine Forge Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 60-41 fall against the Mesivta Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-32 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Pine Forge Academy lost, don't look at Jadon Lewis. Despite the final result, he posted nine points along with six boards and three steals. Misael Butler was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Pine Forge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Leading Mesivta to victory were Dov Hirsch and Yisrael Epstein. Hirsch dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards, while Epstein had 13 points in addition to seven steals and five boards. Epstein continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Friedman, who posted three points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Pine Forge Academy's record is now 1-8. As for Mesivta, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Pine Forge Academy will square off against The City School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mesivta, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-44 victory against Girard College on the 12th.
