Softball Recap: Vacaville Takes a Loss

After flying high against Oakdale on Saturday, Vacaville came back down to earth. The Bulldogs came up short against the Central Catholic Raiders on Saturday, falling 16-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since February 27th.

Laila Dean and Maddie Rhodus did some serious damage despite the final result: Dean went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Rhodus went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Yarrow, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

Vacaville's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.

Vacaville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 5-1 win against Wood on the 30th. As for Central Catholic, they have also already played their next game, an 11-3 victory against Patterson on the 29th.
