Basketball Game Preview: Dora Coyotes vs. Roy/Mosquero Blue/Lady Blue

The Dora Coyotes will take on the Roy/Mosquero Blue/Lady Blue at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Dora came into their game last Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by Gateway Christian 82-47. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, after a string of 17 wins, Roy/Mosquero's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They received a blow as they fell 61-43 to Cimarron.

Dora will need to focus on slowing down Ike Smith, one of several Roy/Mosquero players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 11 points along with five boards and three steals. Ayden Clavel was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Even though they lost, Roy/Mosquero smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Dora moved to 13-15 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Roy/Mosquero, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-6.

Dora came up short against Roy/Mosquero in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 51-43. Can Dora avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
