Basketball Game Preview: Queensbury Spartans vs. Gloversville Huskies/Dragons

Queensbury has gone 9-1 against Gloversville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Spartans are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Huskies/Dragons at 5:30 p.m. Gloversville took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Queensbury, who comes in off a win.

Gloversville better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Queensbury's game on Monday is any indication, that's when Queensbury really gets things going. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 49-29 margin over Schuylerville.

Queensbury's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kady Duffy, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards, and Madelynn Murray, who shot 63% from the field en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Murray a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Quinn Jones, who posted seven points.

Queensbury smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Gloversville played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 63-28 loss at the hands of Scotia-Glenville. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gloversville's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Queensbury, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Everything went Queensbury's way against Gloversville in their previous meeting back in February, as Queensbury made off with a 43-22 victory. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies/Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
