Mendota hadn't done well against Newman Central Catholic recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mendota Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-55 victory over the Newman Central Catholic Comets. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Mendota has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Newman Central Catholic, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mendota will head out to challenge Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newman Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Erie-Prophetstown at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th.
