Softball Recap: San Manuel Gets the Win

After losing to Superior the last time they met, San Manuel decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. San Manuel walked away with a 10-6 victory over Superior on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Leanna Duke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Laila Ruiz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Gyannah Mardrid was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

San Manuel lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

San Manuel's record is now 2-3. As for Superior, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Manuel will challenge Hayden at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Superior, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Superior Panthers duke it out with Ray Bearcats at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. They are facing Ray at the right time seeing as Ray is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
