Volleyball Recap: Yarelis 'Yaya' Rodriguez and Maddie Vega Secure Win for Plant City + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tampa Bay Tech, Plant City was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the East Bay Indians 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2023.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-9, 25-17.

Plant City was led to victory by Maddie Vega and Yarelis 'Yaya' Rodriguez. Vega had eight digs and eight aces, while Rodriguez had nine digs and six aces. That's the most digs Rodriguez has posted since back in October of 2024. Mimi Buikema was another key player, getting 20 assists and seven digs.

They weren't the only good server: Plant City was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in four consecutive games.

Plant City's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for East Bay, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plant City will host Durant at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Bay, they will welcome Riverview at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
