Basketball Game Preview: Burke Bulldogs vs. North Charleston Cougars

The Burke Bulldogs will face off against the North Charleston Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Burke is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season.

Last Monday, Burke took their game with ease, bagging a 54-24 victory over Phoenix Academy. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Burke found their leader in freshman Nathaya Phoenix, who went 10 of 14 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Phoenix has scored at least a third of Burke's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryanna Graham, who posted seven points and eight steals.

Meanwhile, North Charleston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by James Island and fell 73-10. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-2.

Burke has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for North Charleston, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything came up roses for Burke against North Charleston in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 73-20 win. In that game, Burke amassed a halftime lead of 32-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
