Baseball Game Preview: Vashon Island Pirates vs. Klahowya Eagles

Vashon Island hasn't had much luck against Klahowya recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Vashon Island will look to defend their home field against Klahowya at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Vashon Island will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Friday, then bounced right back against South Whidbey on Saturday. Vashon Island blew past South Whidbey 13-4.

Charlie Walker and Jude Dardeau made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Walker struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Dardeau pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Walker scored four runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Dardeau scored two runs while going 2-for-5. That's the most hits Dardeau has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colt Holloway, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Brent Calhoun, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Klahowya put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Kingston get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The six-run effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Klahowya's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Vashon Island, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Vashon Island beat Klahowya 9-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will Vashon Island repeat their success, or does Klahowya has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
