Football Game Preview: Arkoma Mustangs vs. Wilson-Henryetta Tigers

The Arkoma Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Wilson-Henryetta Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Arkoma took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Gans with a sharp 38-12 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

A big part of Arkoma's victory came down to the chemistry between Alex Armstrong and his top target Scout Smith. Armstrong threw for 258 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes while Smith picked up 206 receiving yards and three scores. Armstrong didn't just play on offense: he also made ten total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended two passes. Kingston Farrar made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Arkoma didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Farrar and Smith. Farrar got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Wilson-Henryetta got the win against Webbers Falls on Friday by a conclusive 64-44.

Arkoma is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.5 points over those games. As for Wilson-Henryetta, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Arkoma was dealt a bruising 50-0 defeat at the hands of Wilson-Henryetta in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
