Zeigler-Royalton waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the DuQuoin Indians. This was payback for the Tornadoes, who suffered a 6-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Landen Butler tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kylar Reese-Phillips was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Skropka, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Zeigler-Royalton pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for DuQuoin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Zeigler-Royalton has already played their next game, an 8-7 win against Hamilton County on the 18th. As for DuQuoin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-1 victory against Benton on the 17th.
