Softball Recap: WestSide Renegades vs. Tug Valley Panthers
WestSide had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-4 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Tug Valley Panthers by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in March.
As for Tug Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
For Tug Valley's part, Emma Lackey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. Lackey has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
WestSide will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on May 2. As for Tug Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-7 victory against Mingo Central on the 17th.
