Pleasant Grove faced American Fork in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Vikings blew past the Cavemen 9-2. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Pleasant Grove got a great performance from Keaton Nordick as he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Nordick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, C.J. Anderson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Nash Clement was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Pleasant Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for American Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cavemen beat Pleasant Grove by a score of 9-2 on Wednesday.
