Softball Game Preview: Chickasaw Chieftains vs. Blacksher Bulldogs

Chickasaw hasn't had much luck against Blacksher recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Chieftains are taking a road trip to square off against the Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. Chickasaw has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chickasaw is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Washington County, falling 15-0.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Blacksher was the clear victor by a 16-8 margin over Washington County. Blacksher might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Blacksher let Laney Saucer and Kadence Dailey run wild. Saucer got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Dailey went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Saucer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Averie Hall, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Blacksher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington County only managed four hits.

Blacksher has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Chickasaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-1.

Chickasaw suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Blacksher in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
