Soccer Game Preview: Marquette vs. Lebanon

The Marquette Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Lebanon Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marquette has five straight victories, Lebanon has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Marquette's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Parkway South as they made off with a 6-0 win. Given Marquette's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri soccer rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Parkway South are ranked 55th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lebanon fell victim to Glendale and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 8-0.

Marquette's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three games. As for Lebanon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.

Marquette took their victory against Lebanon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
