Baseball Recap: Hillsdale Hornets vs. Madison Trojans
Hillsdale extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They lost 13-4 to the Madison Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-6 loss on Tuesday.
As for Madison, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
For Madison's part, Norman Frederick made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Frederick a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Brian Dopp was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kason Snyder was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillsdale will face off against Pennfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Madison, they will host Tecumseh at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
