Basketball Game Preview: Kankakee Kays vs. Waubonsie Valley Warriors

The Kankakee Kays will venture away from home to face off against the Waubonsie Valley Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Kankakee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Waubonsie Valley likes a good challenge.

On Saturday, Kankakee took their contest with ease, bagging a 77-48 victory over Richwoods. The Kays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Waubonsie Valley had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 60-56 W against the Blue Devils. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Blue Devils are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waubonsie Valley's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-1. As for Kankakee, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.
