Baseball Game Preview: Burleson Elks vs. Brewer Bears

The Burleson Elks are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Brewer Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burleson's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Brewer's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Burleson picked up another tournament win on Friday. They came out on top against Cedar Hill by a score of 6-1. The Elks haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Brewer came out on top against Legacy on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Bears put the hurt on the Leopards with a sharp 12-3 victory. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Kyle Owen looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, David Ellington and Khyler Farris did most of the damage at the plate: Ellington went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Farris got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Farris has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Matthew McGinnis, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Brewer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Burleson's record now sits at 3-1. As for Brewer, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
