Football Recap: Whitko Wildcats vs. Southwood Knights
Whitko extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They lost 30-6 to the Southwood Knights. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 44-0 to the Knights when the teams met back in October of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Cooper Laukhuf threw for 204 yards on 12 of 20 attempts. Crew Ebbinghouse was his top target, picking up 143 receiving yards. On the ground, Mason Hersha rushed for 44 yards.
As for Southwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 6.75 yards per carry in those games compared to only 2.3 in the others.
Maddox Marshall looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 100 yards on only 11 carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards and one score. He is becoming a predictor of Southwood's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 0-5 when he doesn't).
