Basketball Recap: Hiwassee Dam Piles Up the Points Against Swain County

Hiwassee Dam had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 56-27 blowout they got against the Swain County Maroon Devils. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 29 points or more this season.

Hiwassee Dam's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Swain County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hiwassee Dam will head out to square off against Hayesville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hiwassee Dam knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Hayesville likes a good challenge. As for Swain County, they will square off against Mitchell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
