At the plate, Cole Burton and Noah Morgan did most of the damage at the plate: Burton went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Morgan went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Milan is undefeated when Morgan posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Wyatt Marsh was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Milan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shawe Memorial only posted an OBP of .273.
Switzerland County couldn't beat North Decatur on Saturday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fourth inning. The Pacers lost 18-8 to the Chargers.
Zayne Smith was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had over his last six games. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Peyton Turner was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brian Jones, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.
Milan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Switzerland County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Milan might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Switzerland County when the teams last played back in April. Will the Indians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
