Volleyball Recap: Eureka Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Fayetteville

Eureka is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Fayetteville. The Wildcats took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Leading Fayetteville to victory were Lyla Blagg and Piper Batie. Blagg had five digs and two aces, while Batie hit 54.5% for six kills and 11 digs and four aces. Batie has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 14 times she's played.

Eureka's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12-1. As for Fayetteville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Eureka wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Greenwood on the 11th. As for Fayetteville, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 win against St. Francis Borgia on the 11th.
