Softball Recap: Mountain View Drops Season-High Score on Skyline

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain View). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Skyline Coyotes a 16-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Toros considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Jaelynn Fike looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kylynn Sylvester, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since March 1st. Another player making a difference was Tierah Metcalf, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI.

Mountain View's record now sits at 9-6. As for Skyline, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Mountain View didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 20-1 win against Mesa on the 27th. As for Skyline, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 18-0 loss against Red Mountain on the 26th.
