Basketball Game Preview: Santa Barbara Dons vs. Mater Dei Monarchs

Two dominant guards in Luke Zuffelato and Luke Barnett are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Santa Barbara Dons will challenge the Mater Dei Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Santa Barbara sitting on 12 straight victories and Mater Dei on three.

Santa Barbara is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Canyon 84-70.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against St. Paul on Friday, but they still walked away with a 71-67 win. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Swordsmen are ranked 83rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Santa Barbara better focus on containing Demarcus Henry and Barnett as the pair were huge in Mater Dei's win. Henry dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 boards, while Barnett posted 28 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Henry's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Blake Davidson was another key player, putting up six points.

Mater Dei's victory bumped their record up to 22-8. As for Santa Barbara, their win bumped their record up to 25-5.
