Softball Preview: Tullahoma Wildcats vs. Lawrence County Wildcats

Tullahoma is 1-9 against Lawrence County since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. This will be Tullahoma's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

On Sunday, Tullahoma came up short against Coffee County Central and fell 5-1. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tullahoma saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylee Holt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Lawrence County was not the first on the board last Thursday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Zion Christian Academy with a sharp 15-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Elizabeth Hagan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Hagan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Lawrence County got a massive performance out of Ashlynn Sublett, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits Sublett has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Laney Kate King, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Lawrence County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zion Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .250.

Lawrence County's record is now 2-0. As for Tullahoma, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Tullahoma couldn't quite get it done against Lawrence County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 14-9. Can Tullahoma avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
