Baseball Recap: North Kitsap Comes Up Short

North Kitsap dropped their record down to 11-4-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 12-6 to the Mount Si Wildcats. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Vikings, who until this matchup were averaging 3.88 runs allowed.

Tate Stearns was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Dawsyn Anderson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

As for Mount Si, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Mount Si's side, Drew Hossfeld looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The Wildcats are 7-3 when Hossfeld allows three or fewer earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Chase Mentink was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Matthew Talbot was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, North Kitsap will square off against Sequim at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Si does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
