Softball Recap: Franklin Victorious

Franklin took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Bernards, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors skirted past the Mountaineers 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

J Sejeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, C Gomez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was V Gabryszewski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bernards, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Franklin will venture away from home to take on Edison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bernards, they will head out to face off against Delaware Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
