Soccer Game Preview: St. Augustine vs. Ponte Vedra

St. Augustine is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand ED White an 8-0 shutout. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellow Jackets considering their one-goal performance the match before.

Meanwhile, Ponte Vedra came tearing into last Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Senators 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Sharks were the better team in the second half.

Ponte Vedra's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four games. As for St. Augustine, their victory bumped their record up to 3-12-2.
