Baseball Recap: Madison Starts off Right with Win over Conneaut

Madison took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Conneaut Spartans a 7-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Blue Streaks in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.

Conneaut's batters probably weren't too happy with Ben Amos, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (he gave up two walks).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joey Fioritto, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Conneaut is on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Madison will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
