Football Game Preview: Nowata Ironmen vs. Oklahoma Union Cougars + How To Watch

The Nowata Ironmen will challenge the Oklahoma Union Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nowata has given up an average of 38 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Nowata is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They took a blow against Pawnee, falling 52-12. While losing is never fun, the Ironmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Black Bears are ranked 108th).

Meanwhile, Oklahoma Union hadn't done well against Tonkawa recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cougars blew past the Buccaneers 63-16. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their 12-point performance the matchup before.

The victory made it two in a row for Oklahoma Union and bumps their season record up to 2-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 24 points in those games. As for Nowata, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Nowata couldn't quite get it done against Oklahoma Union in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 as they fell 28-20. Can the Ironmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
